Shooting Today

I went out with 2 of my brother's in laws and 3 of my nieces/nephews. It was a fun outing. My niece hadn't been before and my two nephews had been once. So we had fun teaching them how to shoot. We're expanding the family members who shoot now which is good. It's helped me go shooting every weekend this month totaling about 750 rounds that I've fired. I got to put a few more rounds through my new AR15. I'm still not used to the sites and I want to get a scope on it, but it's a blast to shoot. I'm looking forward to work slowing down so I can get some more shooting in during the next few months!!

. . . of a revolution

For a long time now (almost 10 years) O.A.R. (of a revolution) has been my favorite band. They are from my home state of Maryland, and I went to the same high school as 4 of the guys in the band. They describe their music as island roots rock vibe. It's been fun to watch the band evolve over the years with each album having a style of its own. Check out the music player on my blog for some samples.

Anyways, so O.A.R. is finally coming back to Utah. They've been here twice and I was out of the state for both shows, so I'm anxious to get out to this one. And it's a lot smaller venue than they normally play so it'll be fun to be close to the stage. If you're in the area check out the details of the show. It'd be great to see everyone there.

Off to the Gun Store . . .

Well it's pretty clear that Barack Hussein Obama is going to be the next president of the United States of America. That means it's off to the gun store for me. I don't want to risk not being able to buy a gun I want for 10 years or more with Obama in office. So I'm looking at either an AR15. Not sure which one but any of them is better than nothing so I'll decide pretty quickly. I also need to stock up on as much ammo as possible because of his proposed 500% increase in ammo taxes. This could be a long 4 years.

Me and My Boys Skiing at Tahoe

Here are some pics and videos of our skiing trip last week to North Lake Tahoe (Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl) in California)--

It was a fun week and a week that we all made big progress and improvements--Spencer went down his first black diamond at age 9, and Andrew attempted his first invert at age 12. Daniel is always going bigger and this week was no exception.

Voting

I'm not sure how we got to such a complicated voting system. Maybe it makes sense to someone but I have no idea how it's supposed to work. Why don't we just count up the votes for each person and then whoever has the most votes wins. I think a lot more people would get out and vote if they felt their vote might count--too many states are solid voters one way or another and people feel that their state is going to vote one way and it doesn't matter if they vote or not. So we should change our whole voting system to a simple vote. That's my vote!

Park City Skiing

So Friday and Saturday I went skiing with my brothers Daniel and Andrew (and Will and Amanda on Saturday) at Park City. Normally I ski at Alta with frequent stops at the other Cottonwood canyon resorts (Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton). I've also skied Deer Valley and Park City several times and the Canyons just a couple times. Park City is supposed to be one of the best resorts in the country but I think it's a little over-rated. There's definitely some good stuff (especially off of the Jupiter lift) but I just prefer Alta's terrain to Park City. Maybe people like Park City for their parks and pipes--which if that's the case then they have good reason to enjoy PC. I love the town of Park City. I always enjoy going there, but I prefer skiing in the Cottonwood canyons.

BYU beats Utah 55-52

It's always good to beat your rival--I didn't see the game because I was off skiing but I read the recap on ESPN but it sounds like it was a thrilling end with BYU winning 55-52. . I'm just glad that the Cougars pulled off the victory in Salt Lake because they play better at home than away.

American Idol Season 7 Premiere

We watched the first night of the Season 7 Premiere and thought it was pretty good. There didn't seem to be very many stand-outs that performed exceptionally, but there were some pretty good performances. And a few that were just AWFUL.

I'm trying to figure out how many of these people just want to be on tv vs. how many actually think they can sing--it's hard for me to believe that some of these people could possibly think that they are good at it--example--the dude that waxed his chest just to perform--he knew he couldn't sing but he just wanted to be on tv. And it must have been a painful experience for his 30 seconds of fame. That looked like it HURT.
